The PITAHOUSE began as a long time dream for owners Tony and Lisa Nassour to bring Lebanese and Greek food to as many people as would try it. They used to browse all the Middle Eastern markets for hours in California, one day hoping to operate their own Deli or Market. The PITAHOUSE recipes come from Tony's family in El Mina-Tripoli, Lebanon (where Tony was born). The recipes used are from the northern tip of Lebanon, so while the tastes differ a bit from other parts of the country, the wonderful flavors, spices, and aromas are similar.
Tony's love of Greek food and music originated while visiting family in Greece as a young man. He has not stopped admiring the music, food, or the people of Greece since then and spends most of his time singing Greek and Arabic songs praising the lifestyles and traditions of the Greeks and Lebanese.
It is Tony and Lisa's sincere pleasure to bring to you a taste of their favorite dishes and hospitality from the Mediterranean regions of Greece and Northern Lebanon.

HUMMUS - our most popular item - is made in-house and never from a can. The GARBANZO beans, or CHICKPEAS as some say, are soaked 24 hours and then cooked in a pressure cooker the size of the UL CAMPUS (almost!). We then grind the cooked beans and mix them with TAHINI (sesame seed paste) from LEBANON, garlic, lemon, and some other spices--and VOILA-- you have some pretty YUMMY HUMMUS! You can order it plain, or spicy CAJUN hummus, or our ULTIMATE--with feta cheese, olives, cilantro, parsley, tomatoes, sundried tomatoes, roasted garlic, and bread...it's a real treat!
Our produce is supplied by our local farm market and is inspected to be sure it is fresh before reaching our customers. We take pride in our community and prefer to buy our supplies locally when available.
Monday through Friday, from 11 am--2 pm we are available to prepare your order...just place your order on this web site or give us a call and let us know how we can serve you. Please allow us a minimum of 15 minutes to prepare your order.
Our customers in the local offices love the convenience of being able to order online and then just coming in to pick up the order. Our point and click menu is a real timesaver for the working people of the Lafayette area.
Catering is available--please call a few days in advance for preparation.

Landry Road, near Our Lady of the Oaks Retirement Home and the KATC studios.
All of our menu items are FRESH and HOMEMADE. Mediterranean food has many
items recommended on popular carbohydrate-reducing diets such as Sugar Busters, South
Beach, Atkins, GI, and more.
TAHINI (TA-HEE-NEE)--This sesame-based paste starts as roasted sesame seeds and is processed in much the same way as peanut butter. Its consistency is that of runny peanut butter, and it is just delicious when used as a base for many popular Lebanese foods. Our tahini,made in Lebanon, is of the highest quality and flavor; we use tahini in our hummus, babaganoush, taratour sauce, ultimate hummus, and cajun hummus. It is absolutely full of B vitamins, protein, and essential oils for healthy skin!
HUMMUS is soooooooooooo healthy! This combination of chickpeas, tahini, garlic, and lemon is a true health winner! While tahini has a bit of fat(unsaturated), we don't use much in our recipe, just enough to give you a dose of calcium, protein, B Vitamins, EFA's (essential fatty acids) for healthy skin, and vitamin E; chickpeas contain folic acid, copper, iron, healthy protein, and lots of fiber! AND IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR SPICE-- TRY OUR NEW CAJUN HUMMUS!
TABOULI is a GREAT way to get a day's worth of antioxidants! Parsley, the main ingredient in tabouli, contains THREE times as much Vitamin C as oranges, TWICE as much iron as spinach, and is another excellent source of folic acid, vitamin K, iron, and vitamin A.
BULGUR (crushed wheat) is used in our TABOULI and is brimming full of protein and minerals--it's also low in fat and calories, so it is an incredibly low-fat addition to your diet.
GRAPE LEAVES are extremely low-calorie, and we only use long-grain white rice (which has a GI value of 47). The dish is packed with vitamins A, K, B6, niacin, iron, fiber, riboflavin, folate, calcium, magnesium, copper and manganese--these babies are just brimming with antioxidants!
LENTILS just speak for themselves don't they? Full of fiber (the most soluble kind), they help lower blood cholesterol, and this little legume absorbs more slowly so it stabilizes blood sugar; it is also high in folic acid. You can find it in our house rice, MUJADARA.
OLIVE OIL is used in just about everything we make, and we want you to
know that we only use EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL for cooking, frying, baking, and dressings--
it's more expensive, but you guys are worth it! Only Extra Virgin offers the health
benefits to help raise your good HDL cholesterol, and help fight colon cancer, heart disease,
and atherosclerosis.
